What Happens in Vegas...

OK OK Danielle, here is your eagerly anticipated blog entry…

CORRECTION: Before I begin this entry I need to make a correction to my previous blog(s) in which I used the term “y’all”. After reading Danielle’s blog I can see that she corrected me because I was spelling it “ya’ll”. I thought that it came from “Ya All”, (looking back now that was just stupid of me to think), but she let me know that it actually comes from “You All”. Duh. And seeing that she is from Louisiana, she would know. Thanks Danielle ☺. You are not only my French translator, you are my Southern linguist. That doesn’t sound right...Southern interpreter. That’s better.

So I have been really bad, and haven’t written in my blog. And I really thought I was going to start being better about it, and write in it all the time. I was going to try to stop doing my long-winded blogs and start writing shorter-wittier blogs, (ala Danielle), but what can I say. Just not me. I am a procrastinator by nature, so I just put off and put off and put off until I have to write a million paragraphs to fill in what has been going on in my life. Which has actually been a lot lately believe it or not.

I’m not going to go back too far, just three weeks. I’m really going to be short and concise too (ha ha), here goes...

December 25: I drove up to Flagstaff to spend the night with my friend Deanna, because we were leaving for Las Vegas the next morning, just her and I. So when I got to Flagstaff we did...can’t remember, so it couldn’t have been a whole heck of a lot. Oh yeah, plus nothing was open. December 25th! Duh.

December 26th: Woke up at the crack of dawn (aka 6:30am) got ready and drove to Las Vegas. Somewhere along the way we stopped at some major hick town to go to the bathroom and buy snacks. Let’s just say we were the only ones in the place that were not truckers, had all of our teeth, and I’m pretty sure we were the only ones that had taken a bath and brushed our hair that day too.

Yikes.

So we got into Vegas at about 11:30 am (we gained an hour crossing into Neveda), and we checked into our hotel, which happened to be the Hard Rock Hotel, which was very cool BTW. SO I guess I should mention the reason we were going to Vegas. Well Deanna has recently met someone “special” (in a romantic way, not in the handicap sense of the word...) and he invited her to go to Vegas so they could have dinner at the Paris hotel together. So I was the chaperone, third wheel, whatever you want to call it. So anyway, he paid for our hotel, which was pretty nifty. So we did some cool stuff, like go to the Belagio hotel and visit the art museum (they had Van Gogh [Yay!], Cezanne [Whoo Hoo!], Monet [Hoo Haa!], and some others that I can’t remember at the moment,) but they really had some cool paintings in there. So Deanna and I being the major art history geeks that we are just were in awe. We also had gigantic cappuccinos and gelato at the Belagio. What else did we do? Oh, we went shopping in the Venetian (so fun, got some good stuff at Burberry), and Deanna bought me the perfume that I have been wanting for the past few months (Obsession “Night”. Meow.)

So since we spent so much time shopping and site seeing, we had to make our dinner reservation at the Paris hotel (I think that’s where we ate) at 10:30pm. Yeah, I know. I about died. Especially considering how it was technically 11:30pm Arizona time. I am such an old woman now. But the restaurant was really cool because it was right across the street from the water show at the Belagio, and being outside on the patio, we had a great view.

December 27: So needless to say we didn’t get to sleep until 2am (3am Arizona time.) As if getting to sleep that late wasn’t crazy enough as it is, I woke up SICK (food poisoning, in the bathroom for three hours sick) at 5am. Yup. Three hours of sleep. Not good. The crazy thing is that Deanna was already awake, because she couldn’t sleep. All those stinkin’ butterflies in her stomach wouldn’t let her sleep. Bad for her. Good for me. Since she was up she volunteered to be my personal errand runner. So bless her heart she made two trips downstairs, in her pajamas, through the casino, getting hit on on the way, to get me Pepto Bismol, Immodium, Sprite, Water, Pelegrino, Saltines, basically a whole arsenal of supplies. I guess she wanted to heal me! Well it worked, because by 9am I was feeling a lot better, and they gave me a few hours to recover, and we left the hotel at 11:30am. To be honest, the whole day was a blur. I was still feeling yucky so I didn’t eat all day (except for the saltines and bit of other stuff I could stomach.) So basically I was running on no sleep, no food, and weary from the war I had waged within my intestines. But I think we went to a few more hotels, and did stuff. We ended up heading back to AZ at about 7pm. We actually did pretty good, considering we were both running on no sleep, but I was just grateful it was Deanna driving and not me.

December 28: I spent the night in Flagstaff the night before, because, well read the above and you will know why I didn’t want to drive an additional three hours home. So the next day in Flagstaff we slept in a little bit and then went to the mall to hit the sales. Gap had some good stuff, and so did American Eagle, which was cool cuz I don’t shop at those places too often. At about 5pm I stopped at Barnes and Noble for a Peppermint Mocha and a new book and I headed home to Chandler.

So that was about all that happened in my Vegas trip. It was fun (all but the sick part).

Oh my. Look at all I have written. Yikes. And that was only three days, three weeks ago.

I’ll try and be brief.

PAST FEW WEEKS: Well nothing too exciting has happened in the last couple of weeks, we have just been really busy. I guess the exciting thing is that I got a job!! Finally. It starts February 6th, and it is working for Wells Fargo Bank as a Personal Banker!! Pretty cool!! The pays pretty good, and the benefits are amazing, and plus it’s going to be in Chandler, so not too far. So that’s good.

What else.

OH yeah, Jamie got me the coolest gift EVER!! He surprised me with two tickets to see the best band in the world...COLDPLAY!! I have wanted to see them for so long, but their concerts are always sold out. These seats are really good too, so I am totally excited about that. The concert’s in San Jose, CA, so we are going to drive out the day before, stay in San Luis Obispo (although I’m sure it’ll make me “home” sick), with some friends (I guess I should let them know we are coming...), and then go to the concert the next day, and then the day after that drive back to SLO, stay the night again and then drive home. It should be fun, plus I miss my friends in SLO, so it’ll be good to see them. Although, I have really been missing SLO lately, REALLY bad, so I’m not sure if it’s a good time for me to visit, but oh well. I’ll let you know how it goes. Who knows, someday we may move back there, we really loved it.

TODAY: I drove up to Flagstaff because tomorrow morning is my sister’s ultrasound, and we are going to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl!! Yay!! So am I VERY excited. We are all VERY positive that it is a boy. I mean, we are completely sure that it’s a boy, so you know what that means...it’s going to be a girl. I am so excited though, did I mention I was excited? So I will let you know on my next blog entry if it’s a boy or girl. OK I’ve been typing this blog for almost an hour now, so I am going to say goodnight.

PS. I will be very excited if it’s a boy OR girl.
